Each year during the Keeneland Concours d’Elegance, hundreds of car enthusiasts from all around the state and region join the shine ‘n show 'n fellowship in the Paddock Area of the Concours in specially designated parking areas in close proximity to the 100 juried automobiles. The Paddock Challenge attracts car clubs from four states—Audis, BMWs, British, Cobra, Corvettes, Miatas, Mini-Coopers, Mustangs, Porsches and many others. In 2007, the Model A Restorers Club brought 28 Model A's to the Paddock joining nearly 600 other Club participants. A dash plaque is available for participants to commemorate their experience.update 3/24/08 |

Paddock participants are encouraged to support the charitable aspect of the Concours by participating in the Paddock Challenge. The Paddock Challenge gives participants the opportunity to raise money for the Kentucky Children’s Hospital and to help their favorite club win the coveted Paddock Challenge Trophy.Developed during the second Concours, the Paddock and its Charitable Challenge has grown; both in number of cars, from a 135 to nearly 600, and the money donated. The money raised for the Children’s Hospital totals more than $10,000 over the past three years. The Paddock Challenge goal for 2008 is $10,000, seeking to double the contribution that Paddock participants have made to the KCH.The car club generating the most money has its name engraved on the Paddock Challenge Trophy which is displayed throughout the year at the Children’s Hospital.Past winners include:2007 Porsche Club of America, Bluegrass Region2006 Bluegrass Corvette Club2005 CorvairThe winning clubs are among the region’s largest car clubs. In 2006, the Bluegrass Corvette Club presented 200 beautiful Corvettes along the boulevard leading to the Keene Barn. The Corvette was the marque of the Concours that year and the local club was determined to win the coveted Paddock Challenge trophy—and they did!Amid much smack talking between the Corvette Club and the Porsche Club in 2007, it became apparent that the Porsche owners were after the trophy—and they succeeded contributing just over $2,300 toward the total amount of $6,700.Both clubs are working now to raise money to bring to the 2008 Paddock! It is quite the competition and we wish all clubs the best! Why don’t you join the fray??In 2008, the Paddock Challenge will feature two classes to provide for greater involvement from smaller or less organized clubs and groups of cars. |
