NEW DATE FOR 2011

SATURDAY, JULY 16

CAR CLUB PADDOCK

Each year during the Keeneland Concours d’Elegance, hundreds of car enthusiasts from all around the state and region join the shine ‘n show 'n fellowship in the Paddock Area of the Concours, a specially-designated parking area in close proximity to the juried automobiles.

Its popularity has grown so much that in 2011 we will require clubs to make a reservation for a spot in the Paddock!

The Paddock Challenge attracts Alfa Romeos, Audis, British Sterlings, Cobras, Corvettes, Ferraris, Hot Rods, Maseratis, Miatas,  Mini-Coopers, Model A, Mustangs, Porsches and many others.

PADDOCK CHALLENGE

Bluegrass Region Porsche club presents their check to The Kentucky Children's Hospital as winners of the Paddock Challenge trophy for 2011 with an astounding contribution of $3,636.96!

Trophy winning British Sterling Motoring Society was the highest individual donating club, they contributed $105 per car in the paddock to the Kentucky Children's Hospital.

Since the second Concours, Paddock participants have supported the charitable aspect of the Concours by participating in the Paddock Challenge. The Challenge allows clubs to vie for the honor of having their name placed on a trophy and plaque and to contribute to the Kentucky Children’s Hospital. The trophy and plaque recognizing each year’s winning car club is displayed throughout the year at the Children’s Hospital.

Both the Paddock and the Challenge have grown significantly, increasing from 135 cars in 2004 to more than 500 in 2010. During this time, the Challenge has generated over $37,000 for the Children’s Hospital.

Participating clubs are among the region’s largest car clubs and a friendly rivalry for the Total Amount Trophy has become a tradition between the Bluegrass Corvette Club and the Porsche Club of America, Bluegrass Region. It started in 2006 when the Corvettes presented 200 beautiful Corvettes along the boulevard leading to the Keene Barn.  Being that year’s marque, the local club was determined to win the coveted Paddock Challenge trophy—and they did!

The Paddock was a huge success again this year with an estimated 700 beautiful automobiles displayed across the manicured fields of the Keeneland Race Course. As the morning sun peeked above the horizon, Vipers, Cobras, Mustangs, Corvettes, Alfa Romeos, Porsches, Model As, Corvairs and others representing 13 clubs from 3 states began to arrive to find a special spot waiting for them. This year's Paddock Challenge was won for the 3rd year in a row with a strong showing by the Bluegrass Porsche Club.

Their club contributed over $3,200! The Paddock Challenge Trophy was created by and named in memory of a former PCA member, Becky Cleaver. The Paddock Challenge Plaque given to the club which contributes the most per club car in attendance was also awarded to a three-peat winner, the Sterling British Motoring Society which averaged over $105.00 per car!

Wow, over over $5,200 raised for the kids at Kentucky Children's Hospital. Yes, it was a really good day in the paddock..........but wait until next year!
