1957 Mercedes 300 SL Roadster

The Mercedes 300 SL, available as a roadster and as a Gullwing coupe, had many innovative

features such as direct cylinder fuel injection and the engine tilted 40 degrees to lower the

hood line. In 1961, noted automotive writer Ralph Stein predicted: “The superb 300 SL

sports car certainly qualifies as a Grand Marque.”
