She considers the automobile to be an extremely significant part of our culture and way of life. "As a painter I choose the automobile, people and surrounding landscape as my subject matter. The automobile, is within itself, a work of art." Gouache and watercolor are her media of choice. Both have magical qualities that allow the production of incredible shapes and colors that she depicts in her compositions. Reflections, chrome, curves and flowing lines give the challenge and intrigue to solve and master her work. Her style attempts to achieve detailed and accurate, yet an artistic, interpretation of the grandiose automobile. Sue loves to paint antique, vintage, racing and special automobiles for enthusiasts. Sue’s paintings have been accepted in numerous juried/invitational automotive, illustration and solo exhibits. She has contributed automotive artwork to Road & Track magazine since 1990. |
