Keeneland Concours d’Elegance Event Drives into Top 20

(Lexington, Kentucky)—For the second consecutive year The Keeneland

Concours d’Elegance received designation as one of the Southeast Tourism

Society’s “Top 20 Events” for July 2008.  This prestigious award is given to

the 20 best events across the southeast for each month and is published quarterly

in the Society’s Top 20 Events publication.   The coveted Top 20 award is given

by the Southeast Tourism Society to outstanding events that have been in

existence for three or more years and host 1,000 or more attendees.

For July 2008, the Keeneland Concours d’Elegance is among distinguished

company with other award-winners including Summerfest and the Montreux

Jazz Festival.   “It is an honor to receive this prestigious designation from the

Southeast Tourism Society,” said Tom Jones, event chairman.  The Keeneland

Concours d’Elegance is a showcase of 100 exquisite automobiles— following the

parade tradition born in Paris in the 1920s.

This year’s exhibition, held on the historic grounds of Keeneland July 19, will

feature Cadillac as the guest marque and a spectacular display from General Motors

Heritage Collection .   In addition to the auto display, the four-day event (July 17-20)

also includes a Bourbon Tour, Black Tie Gala, Hangar Bash, and Tour d’Elegance.

This is the fifth annual Keeneland Concours d’Elegance. Last year, the event raised

$25,000 for the Kentucky Children’s Hospital.

“One of the great pleasures of this event is to spend time with wonderful people

and renew friendships. The conduit for this, of course, is our love of the automobile

and the desire to support worthwhile causes in our community,” Jones added.

The Southeast Tourism Society is a non-profit, membership organization made up

of 11 southeastern states, dedicated to developing industry organizations as well

as promoting tourism within and to the Southeast Tourism Society.  Membership

includes State Travel Offices, attractions and activities, travel writers, and other

related groups.
